Khachaturian International Festival

The Khachaturian International Festival is one of the region’s prominent classical music events, bringing together renowned artists, distinguished conductors, and diverse musical traditions in Yerevan.

Established in Armenia in 2013 by Maestro Sergey Smbatyan, Principal Conductor and Artistic Director of the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra, the festival has become an annual meeting point for leading figures of the international classical music scene. Held each autumn and winter in Yerevan, it creates a vibrant space for artistic exchange, cultural dialogue, and meaningful connections between musicians and audiences from around the world.

Named after the internationally acclaimed Armenian composer Aram Khachaturian, the festival places his music and legacy at the heart of its programme. Each edition presents Khachaturian’s works alongside those of his contemporaries, while also exploring his music through innovative formats, including jazz arrangements and cross-genre interpretations.

Over the years, the festival has welcomed some of the most distinguished names in classical music, including Krzysztof Penderecki, Alexander Romanovsky, Narek Hakhnazaryan, Ning Feng, Zakhar Bron, Maxim Vengerov, and many others.

Beyond celebrating and promoting the musical legacy of Aram Khachaturian, the festival is committed to fostering artistic dialogue and bringing together different musical traditions and performing schools. Through its annual programme, it continues to strengthen Armenia’s place on the international cultural map and create new opportunities for cultural exchange through music.
